A meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany was held in FEZ Grodnoinvest

On March 9, 2020, Manfred Huterer, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Belarus, visited free economic zone Grodnoinvest. The purpose of his visit was to establish business contacts with the administration of FEZ Grodnoinvest, study the investment, industrial, trade and economic potential of Grodno region and FEZ Grodnoinvest.

Manfred Huterer was appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Belarus in July 2019. Previously, Mr. Huterer worked at German embassies in Moscow, Beijing, Washington, and Warsaw. In the German Foreign Ministry, he was a supervisor of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and the Eastern Partnership department. This visit was the first study visit of Mr. Huterer to Grodno region.

During the meeting, the Deputy Head of the administration Dmitry Rozhkov spoke about the advantages of implementing investment projects in FEZ and the interest in developing relations with German business in three key spheres: woodworking, mechanical engineering and chemical production. In addition, projects on the establishment of German industrial park in engineering sphere and a multimodal logistics center Grodno were introduced to the Ambassador. It is proposed to study the possibility of organizing a regional Belarusian-German business forum in FEZ Grodnoinvest in 2020 in Grodno with the support of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Belarus. During the visit, the Ambassador visited FEZ enterprise with the German capital - Belabedding Ltd. and learned about its production.

In total, 2 companies with the German capital are operating in FEZ Grodnoinvest: Belabedding Ltd., Haver BY Ltd. Over their operational period the companies invested $ 23.9 million, incl. $ 2.3 million in 2019. In recent years, FEZ residents have been increasing trade with German businessmen. In 2019, it exceeded $ 36 million, an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year. It is necessary to point out that the administration of FEZ Grodnoinvest takes an active part in business meetings with German partners, including the Belarusian-German Council for Business Cooperation, the 10th Day of the German Economy in the Republic of Belarus, a meeting of the Saxony-Belarus Business Council, etc.
