The development of shipping on Augustov Canal was discussed in Grodno Regional Executive Committee
The new status of Augustow Canal was discussed at the operational meeting, which was held by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Vladimir Kravtsov.
In order to expand the shipping routes on the Avgustov Canal, the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, together with the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Belarus, is working on the inclusion of the canal in the inner waterways.
The solution of this issue will allow to open in the current navigation season navigable traffic with neighboring countries, both small-size and larger vessels will be able to sail from Poland to Belarus and further to Lithuania. The implementation of this set of measures will increase the attractiveness of the Augustow Canal for both tourists and investors, and will provide an opportunity to expand the range of tourist services in the areas adjacent to the channel.
