The privileges for the export of sawn timber and wood chips at the exchange trading have been adjusted in Belarus
In Belarus, from November 14, 2021, the rule on the exemption of business entities from the obligatory conclusion of transactions for the export of sawn timber and wood chips at exchange auctions has been canceled. From that date, companies will not be able to export commodity items 4101, 4401 21 000 0, 4401 22 000 0, 4403 and 4407 outside of trading on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. The changes are provided for by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated October 12, 2021 No. 5.
Thus, conditions for equal competition between participants in the sawn timber market, the formation of a fair market price, and the exclusion of uncontrolled export of products with a low degree of processing are created in the country. Earlier, to prevent a shortage of timber, export duties were imposed on wood products in Belarus. Depending on the type of materials, customs duties per cubic meter of products are 100 euros or from 2 to 6.5% of the customs value.
