Meeting on the development of FEZ was held in Minsk with the participation of the President of the Republic of Belarus

The increase of work efficiency of free economic zones was discussed at the meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on August 7, 2018. The head of the state emphasised the relevance of issues related to the creation of new high-productivity jobs in Belarus, the strengthening of industrial and export potential. The solution of these problems is inseparably associated with attracting investments into the country's economy.

At the moment Belarus has 6 free economic zones, in which over400 resident enterprises with over 122,000 employees are registered. They make a significant contribution to the social and economic development of regions and form about 4% of GDP.

Investors declare their readiness to invest $ 850 million in the creation of new enterprises on the territory of free economic zones in Belarus. In this regard, at the meeting with the President a conversation was held about the neccesity of extension of FEZ territories through  perspective land plots, - the First Deputy of Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky told reporters. According to him, the issues discussed at the meeting with the head of the state did not concern the introduction of additional benefits for FEZ residents.

In addition, the government suggests to provide additional sources of financing that enterprises could use to create the necessary infrastructure, in particular gas and electricity.

The propositions voiced at the meeting were generally supported by the head of the state. They are reflected in the draft decree, which in the nearest future will be finalized and sent for a signature.
