Results of half-year 2020: FEZ Grodnoinvest residents attracted $ 67 million in foreign direct investment
In January - June 2020, residents of FEZ Grodnoinvest attracted USD 67 million in foreign direct investment. This is 2.2 times more compared to the same period last year.
In total, in the first half of 2020, $ 181 million of investments from abroad was attracted to FEZ Grodnoinvest. This is 43% more than a year earlier. The key investor was the Russian Federation, $ 46 million attracted. The top 5 investors included Austria ($ 39 million), the Netherlands ($ 39 million), international organizations ($ 26 million), Cyprus ($ 14 million). In total, investments were attracted from 15 countries, including Poland, UAE, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Estonia, USA, Germany, etc.
Smorgon region has become the leader in investment inflow from abroad among FEZ Grodnoinvest investment sites. FEZ residents invested over $ 161 million. FEZ Grodnoinvest attracted $ 16 million in projects implementation on the territory of Grodno, which is 1.6 times more than in the previous year. Grodno, Svisloch and Lida districts attracted $ 1 million and more of foreign investments.
In FEZ Grodnoinvest, significant investment projects for Grodno region are being implemented. In Smorgon region, investors from Turkey and Uzbekistan are building a vertically-integrated complex for the production of cotton yarn and products from it, the Polish Group of Companies Szynaka is creating a diversified production of furniture for residential premises, the Austrian Group of Companies Kronospan is developing a furniture cluster.
In Grodno, the Polish furniture company Gabi is implementing a project on cabinet furniture production, including for IKEA concern supplies . Also this year, the production facilities modernization of 11 FEZ Grodnoinvet enterprises in Grodno, Lida, Slonim, Shchuchin, Novogrudok and Smorgon is underway.
