Results 2020: the export of FEZ Grodnoinvest residents approached one billion dollars

We are talking about the results of 2020. Earlier we wrote about the production of import-substituting products and investment activities. The new material will focus on the export of goods of FEZ Grodnoinvest residents, which form 39% of the volume of the Grodno region.

In 2020, the export of FEZ Grodnoinvest residents despite the pandemic and its economic consequences increased by 2% . In just five years, it has grown 2.2 times, approaching USD 1 billion. Traditionally, FEZ residents have become net exporters and have attracted foreign exchange earnings to the republic. The positive foreign trade turnover amounted to USD 438 million, which is USD 50 million more compared to 2019.

FEZ Grodnoinvest residents exported products to 65 countries in 2020. Last year opened such destinations as Zimbabwe, Peru, Somalia and others for Belarusian exporters. The key sales markets are still Russia, Poland and Ukraine. The share of these countries in the total export volume of FEZ was 87%. Last year, supplies of Belarusian products to the United States of America (growth rate 337%), the United Arab Emirates (229%), Estonia (210%), Egypt (209%), Canada (194%) and the Netherlands (185%) increased significantly. Exports to the European Union grew by 14% to USD 192 million. Today it accounts for 20% of the total export of FEZ Grodnoinvest residents.

Wood and paper products, furniture, food form the majority of exports (66%). They are followed by machinery and equipment, computing, electronic and optical equipment, electrical equipment, vehicles, finished metal products (15%), textiles (9%), chemical products and fertilizers (8%). The leaders in terms of export growth in 2020 were manufacturers of electronic and optical equipment (127%), food (125%), wood and paper products (115%).

The leaders in the context of the regions are the residents of the FEZ located in the Smorgon region. In 2020, they increased exports by 22% to USD 540 million. The top 3 make FEZ residents from the city of Grodno (26% of the total) and the Lida region (8%). The largest increase in export deliveries in 2020 was shown by FEZ residents in the Grodno region (+23%).
