Grodno was recognized as the best city for life and business after the capital of Belarus

A new rating of Belarusian cities has been published, which included an evaluation of demographic stability, the quality of the economy and life, social and political practices, and tourist attractiveness. Grodno scored 74.9 points out of 100 possible and lost only to the capital of the republic, significantly ahead of other cities.

The authors of the rating used 16 dynamic indicators to assess the quality of life and recreation, doing business and participating in public life. Grodno entered the top 5 cities of the country with a population of over 12 thousand people in terms of natural population growth, the quality of the local budget, the number of doctors and students per inhabitant, the availability of information, the participation of society in the life of the city, the number of housing on the well-known booking service, number of attractions for tourists.

The top cities also included Lida (8th place), Slonim (14th place) and Smorgon (17th place). The industrial parks of the free economic zone Grodnoinvest contribute to the dynamic development of these areas. During the first 9 months of this year, FEZ residents invested more than 220 million rubles in fixed assets and paid about 200 million rubles in taxes and other payments.

In FEZ Grodnoinvest, the construction of new production facilities is actively underway. A modern plant of the Smorgon Experimental Forestry has recently been launched. Production is being modernized at Mostovdrev, Slonim Worsted and Spinning Factory, Belkard, and others.
